If You’re Not Landing Clients, Start Here

Hi Reader

I wanted to share a big win. One that could help you.

I’ve been filming Jay for a few years now. He’s sharp and truly gifted at what he does.

But earlier this year, he decided to evolve his business—
→ New market
→ New offer
→ New language to match

We tested ideas. Wrote new copy. Recorded new videos.
But the more we pushed, the further away it felt from the clarity we were after.

The more refined the message got… the less real it felt. And the more frustrated we became.

It wasn’t until we paused and did one simple activity that everything clicked.

Within a week, Jay had two conversations with exactly the kind of leader he wanted to work with—
and both look like they’ll move forward with his new offer.

Here’s what we did:

We walked through a process I call the Target Client Discovery Worksheet.

It's not complicated. But it forces clarity—and clarity is what converts conversations–into clients.

We defined:

• Who Jays client actually is (not in theory—in real life)
• What they want
• What’s in their way
• What makes them buy
• And where Jay’s story connects to their struggle

By the end, Jay had laser focus on who he was talking to, what they needed to hear, and how to say it.

What changed?

Jay had spent years serving leaders in the beauty industry, working with salon chains and franchise groups.

But deep down, he knew the leadership tools he taught could apply beyond that space—especially inside founder-led companies and teams where leaders don’t have traditional leverage.

Think:
• Real estate brokers managing independent agents
• Financial firms managing commission-based reps
• Project-based teams where “just do it because I said so” doesn’t work

Through the worksheet, we got hyper-specific.

Here’s a quick peek at what came out of that session:

“My perfect client is a founder who leads a sales-driven team—but feels like they’re losing control. They’re stuck putting out fires, having the same conversations over and over, and can’t figure out why their people keep falling short—even though everyone says they’re on board.

From that one line, we built everything else.
Offer. Content. Language. Strategy.

Almost immediately—his message started attracting the right conversations.

Why I’m telling you this:

If you’re a new coach, this one exercise could save you thousands of dollars in wasted content, ads, and guesswork.

If you’re a veteran coach, this could save you from hundreds of hours trying to recapture momentum from a market that’s no longer responding.

Because here’s the truth:
The coaches who are winning in 2025 are the ones who know exactly who they serve and how to speak their language.

Everyone else? They’re still posting. All the random S#!t.
